Andrea BatesAndrea Bates (née Bartók) was born in Budapest, Hungary. She was educated in Paris and Montreal, and later studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Andrea now lives in North Oxfordshire, where she has her own studio and gallery.

As a member of the Oxford Art Society, Fosseway Artists, and several other groups, Andrea has had over 35 one-woman shows to date, and has had work exhibited by the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, and by the Pastel Society in the Mall Galleries in London.

She has exhibited in both London and regional galleries, and is regular participant in Oxford Art Week (the annual Oxfordshire Visual Arts Festival) since 1985.

Andrea holds an annual exhibition of her latest work in May of each year, in her converted barn gallery at Hillside, Enstone, in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds.

Andrea's StudioHer work can also be found in private collections in the UK, North America, Switzerland, France and Germany, and has been featured in various publications, both in the UK and internationally.

Andrea's preferred media are oils and pastels, with subjects including landscapes, seascapes, portraits, flowers, gardens, street scenes, still life, and occasional abstracts.

Since 1994, Andrea has made available a range of limited edition high quality prints, depicting mainly gardens, flowers and landscapes.
